Seven Decades of Engineering. Right Here, Working for You.
ZERMA has been designing plastic size reduction equipment since the 1950s. Here is what more than 70 years of that experience actually means for your operation.
Choosing a plastic granulator or shredder is a long-term decision. The machine you put in your facility will be there for years, and the relationship with the supplier who stands behind it matters just as much as the machine itself. ZERMA America exists to give North American plastic processors access to proven German engineering with the kind of local support that makes the difference between a smooth installation and an ongoing headache.
This is an honest look at what makes ZERMA America worth calling first when you are evaluating size reduction equipment.
Engineering with a Real Track Record
ZERMA has been engineering plastic size reduction equipment for more than 70 years. That is not a marketing number. It is a reflection of how many applications have been worked through, how many machine generations have been refined, and how many edge cases have been solved. When you buy a ZERMA machine, you are buying equipment that has been shaped by real-world feedback from plants in more than 100 countries across every major plastic processing method.
The machines are built to German engineering standards, which carries specific meaning in industrial equipment: tighter tolerances, longer service intervals, more robust component selection. ZERMA designs for the application, not just for the spec sheet, and that shows up over the life of the equipment in ways that matter, including reduced wear, more consistent output, and easier maintenance.
Over 70 years of experience means ZERMA has seen your application before, and has already worked out what the right approach is.
A Complete Range, Under One Roof
ZERMA offers the full spectrum of plastic size reduction machinery, which means you can specify a single machine or a complete integrated system and deal with one knowledgeable supplier throughout. The range covers everything from low speed granulators and beside-the-press granulators for injection molding cells, to heavy duty central granulators, pipe and profile shredders, plastic lumps and purge shredders, multi-purpose shredders, combination shredder and granulator systems, and PVC pulverizers for fine powder applications — all the way up to large-volume industrial shredders for post-consumer bale processing.
General Purpose Shredder
Powerful two-speed swing ram single-shaft shredders for diverse plastic recycling applications.
Shredder Granulator Combination
Integrated systems that combine shredding and granulation in a single compact footprint.
Heavy Duty Shredder
Two-speed swing ram design for demanding, high-throughput processing applications.
Big Volume Shredder
Redesigned hydraulic pusher delivers approximately 35% more force for large-volume applications.
Slow Speed Granulator
Beside-the-press low-speed granulators for quiet, clean injection molding cell operation.
Heavy Duty Granulator
Central granulators with customizable rotor and hopper configurations for demanding size reduction.
Compact Soundproofed Granulator
Fully enclosed soundproofed granulators for high-volume in-plant processing with reduced noise.
Pipe and Profile Granulator
Available in rotor widths up to 1400 mm for long pipe and profile processing.
Plastics Pulverizer
High-speed disc pulverizers for fine powder grinding of PVC and other materials.
One important distinction about ZERMA’s product range: because the shredder and granulator lines are designed by the same engineering team, combination systems and integrated lines work together without the friction that comes from mixing equipment from different manufacturers. When ZERMA sizes and configures a system, all the components are accounted for as a whole.
We Test Your Material Before You Buy
The most important question in equipment selection is not which machine looks right on paper. It is how that machine actually handles your material under real conditions. ZERMA America addresses this directly through its in-house material testing facility.
You can ship us a sample of your actual feedstock and our engineers will run it through the machine configurations that make sense for your application. The test uses real equipment under production-representative conditions. You receive the tested material to evaluate, and we provide a confidential technical report documenting the results. Short-run tests are available at no charge.
We also record every test on video. That footage is yours to keep. It documents how the machine handles your material and gives your team a clear picture of what to expect during installation and commissioning.
Spare Parts Ready to Ship
Downtime is a cost most operations cannot absorb. When a wear part reaches the end of its service life, the goal is to replace it and get back into production as quickly as possible. That requires parts to be in stock when you need them, not on order.
ZERMA America maintains an extensive inventory of spare parts covering knives, screens, bearings, belts, electrical components, and other consumables across the machine range. If you need a GSH granulator screen or a ZSS shredder knife, the aim is to have it available and ready to ship without a lengthy lead time.
Parts can be ordered through our dedicated parts specialist at (239) 219-1500, or any time through the online store, Virtus Equipment Direct, which carries ZERMA America parts alongside the full machine range.
Service Support That Is Actually Useful
Equipment support is only worth having if the person on the other end understands the machine and can help you solve a real problem. The ZERMA America service team is trained on the equipment we sell and available to assist with installation, commissioning, operational questions, and troubleshooting when something is not behaving the way it should.
Our service line is (239) 235-9930, with bilingual Spanish-speaking support available. We also believe preventive maintenance is the most practical way to keep machines running well and avoid unplanned downtime. Our team can help you build a maintenance schedule and identify the wear parts you should have on hand before they become urgent.

Built for Every Plastic Processing Application
ZERMA equipment is found in injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, rotomolding, thermoforming, and film processing plants worldwide. The machines handle rejects, runners, sprues, purgings, pipes, profiles, bottles, bales, and a wide range of other plastic forms. Whatever your production process generates as scrap, there is a ZERMA machine designed to process it efficiently.
Accessories including conveyors, blowers, metal detection systems, and separators are also available, making it possible to build a complete integrated size reduction system from a single supplier. That consistency in design and support makes a meaningful difference during commissioning and over the operating life of the system.
The Right Machine Is Closer Than You Think.
